15 PDLs in Occidental Mindoro earn high school diplomas -

SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro – While behind bars, there is no stopping for some 15 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-San Jose District Jail to achieve a significant milestone by graduating from the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Alternative Learning System (ALS) Senior High School program.

BJMP Mimaropa regional information officer Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo said, “the initiative aligns with BJMP’s commitment to providing developmental opportunities for PDLs, and offering them a chance to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to society.”

The graduation ceremony, held on Monday, April 14, was attended by officials from BJMP and DepEd, who vowed to continue the ALS extension program conducted at the detention facility—providing inmates with opportunities to improve themselves and prepare for a productive life post-incarceration.
